Potential Rift Alert: Dr. Hilderman’s Remarks on Bobi Wine’s Ignorance Sparks Controversy

Should any discord arise between Dr. Hilderman and his mentor, Bobi Wine, leading to potential tensions, it wouldn’t be surprising. Hilderman’s recent criticism directed at the highly regarded National Unity Platform (NUP) figure might lead to repercussions.

The legislator firmly believes that Bobi Wine spoke out of ignorance when criticizing Eddy Kenzo over the UGX 34 billion allocated to the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF). However, to err on the side of caution, the musician-turned-politician accepts partial responsibility, citing a failure to brief Bobi Wine about the funds, which were distributed to musicians through investment Saccos.

Hilderman asserts that he consistently advocated for the government funding, expressing satisfaction when President Museveni eventually heeded the plea and released the funds for the musicians. He laments his inability to advise Bobi Wine on such a critical matter, clarifying that he was appointed by Bobi Wine as his minister to represent the music industry and ensure its promotion. He emphasizes that the funds are intended for all artists and not solely for Eddy Kenzo or a specific group.

In an interview with a local television station, the Shadow Minister of Arts states, “Don’t blame the principal; blame Kiyanga. I am not guilty of not updating him about how the money was allocated. So the money is not for Eddy Kenzo or a particular group of people; it’s for the artists. As a Shadow Minister of Arts, I have been asking the government to invest in the industry.
