Clarification: Viral Video of Flooded Health Facility Not Linked to The Nairobi Hospital
A viral video circulating on various social media platforms, depicting a flooded health facility, is not associated with The Nairobi Hospital.
The footage resurfaced a few days following a heavy downpour in different parts of Nairobi city.
In a statement released on January 6, The Nairobi Hospital categorically dismissed the video, clarifying, “There is no such scenario in our facilities.”
The hospital emphasized the need to bring this to the attention of stakeholders and the public, denouncing the circulating video as falsely attributed to The Nairobi Hospital. “Any purported association of the video with the hospital is false and misleading,” the statement affirmed.
James Nyamongo, the CEO of the hospital, reassured that despite the adverse weather conditions on January 5, all operations are running smoothly. He specifically highlighted the uninterrupted services at the main hospital, various departments, and outpatient centers, which continue to operate as usual.
“We value the ongoing support from our clients and stakeholders as we consistently deliver high-quality healthcare to our patients,” Nyamongo expressed gratitude.
The video, lasting one minute and 39 seconds, depicts staff navigating through flooded corridors and offices within a health facility, with submerged beds visible. An ambulance is also seen parked outside the flooded casualty area.
