Emeka Rollas Ejezie, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, shared the heartbreaking news via Instagram, revealing that Mr. Ibu succumbed to a cardiac arrest. “Mr. Ibu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager of 25 years, Don Single Nwuzor. I announce with deep sense of grief that Mr. Ibu didn’t make it. May his soul rest in peace,” lamented Ejezie.
The preceding year, in November 2023, brought another blow as Mr. Ibu’s family disclosed the necessity of a leg amputation due to health complications. Through a poignant statement on social media, the family recounted the challenging journey of surgeries undertaken in a desperate bid to save Mr. Ibu’s life. “This development has been hard on us all but we’ve had to accept it as Daddy’s new reality,” the family expressed, urging for support during this trying time.
Amidst the adversity, the family reached out to Nigerians and fans, acknowledging the fragility of their loved one’s health and appealing for solidarity.
