Rising football star Herbert Assimwe earned the football accolade for the month of September, following a stellar run in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League. Playing as a forward for Wakiso Giants, Assimwe, who has been compared to Eduardo Camavinga, scored in every game during the month, including matches against Mbale Heroes, BrightStars, and Maroons, where he netted a brace. His exceptional performances continued in the Airtel Masaza Cup, where he added two more goals for Buwekula, solidifying his place as a top scorer. Assimwe’s achievements stood out among other top contenders such as Said Mayanja of KCCA FC and Enock Ssebagala of NEC FC. During the award ceremony, Assimwe acknowledged the support of his teammates, stating, “This award is a reflection of the teamwork at Wakiso Giants, and I dedicate it to the family of the Purple Sharks.” His impressive run has marked him as a player to watch in the Ugandan football scene.
