The Fortebet Real Stars Sports Monthly Awards have recently announced the athletes who shined in their respective sports during the African Games in March.
Lydia Namabiro was a force to be reckoned with in Rugby, leading the Lady Rugby Cranes Sevens to a laudable fourth-place finish in the HSBC Challengers Series in Montevideo. Her dynamic performance, highlighted by four tries, earned her the rugby award over Norbert Okeny and Peace Lekuru.
In Football, Hakim Mutebi distinguished himself, outshining his Hippos teammate Usama Arafat and Catherine Nagadya of the Queen Cranes (Uganda U20 Women). His significant goal in the match against Congo in Ghana was a standout moment, securing his spot as the month’s most notable footballer, despite the team’s loss in the final against Ghana.
Weightlifting’s spotlight fell on Davis Niyoyita, who, as a student from Kakungulu Memorial School Kibuli, won three medals at the Games for Uganda, including two silvers and a bronze.
