The war between Russia and Ukraine is witnessing a dramatic escalation in aerial warfare, particularly as Ukraine intensifies its drone operations against Russian military targets. With Russian forces making notable advances in the Donbas region, Ukraine has launched several drone strikes aimed at crippling Moscow’s military capabilities.
On Wednesday, a significant drone attack resulted in a massive explosion at a Russian armory in Tver, leading to the evacuation of residents in the vicinity. The explosion was so intense it was reported to have registered as an earthquake, underscoring the attack’s magnitude. Satellite images captured the aftermath, showing extensive fire and smoke, while NASA satellites identified intense heat signatures over a 14 square kilometer area, highlighting the effectiveness of the Ukrainian operation.
In retaliation, Russian forces have increased their strikes on key Ukrainian military communication infrastructures and energy facilities. The Russian Defense Ministry asserts that these attacks target essential military assets to undermine Ukraine’s defense capabilities. Although they claim their strikes do not target civilians, the fallout from these operations continues to create significant humanitarian concerns across Ukraine.
